History of Reiki
Mikao Usui is recognized as the founder of Reiki. In March, 1922 after 22 days of fasting and meditation Mikao Usui was spiritually awakened and received the Reiki energy on Mount Kurama in Kyoto, Japan.
Today there are many schools of Reiki, with the Usui Reiki Healing Society being one of the largest. Chujiro Hayashi (a student of Mikao Usui) and his student, Hawayo Takata (a Japanese-American born in Hawaii) have continued to bring Reiki to the world after Usui’s death.
Zero Balancing (known as ZB) is a gentle and powerful hands on bodywork system that engages the structural and energetic bodies to facilitate balance and flow in the body. Sessions produce an experience of deep relaxation and have the ability to reduce stress and increase vitality in clients.
ZB has also been found to support self discovery, self-acceptance and the ability to create positive, life-affirming change.
ZB was developed by Fritz Frederick Smith (1929-2024), an MD, physician, osteopath and acupuncturist. Zero Balancing is his legacy, a combination of Eastern and Western thought and methods.
A session’s length may vary from 30-45 minutes and is safe for any age group. The receiver stays fully clothed while laying face up on a massage table. The practitioner creates potential for change by applying gentle pressure or traction (fulcrums) to the bones around the joints in the body; it feels a little bit like acupressure for your bones.
At the end of a session the receiver is asked to stand up and walk around to integrate changes from the treatment. Many feel more grounded, stable, and supported at this time; it can also be common for physical discomforts to disappear completely.
